Here is just about all of the information I have on my family from Kent Co. Md. I'm searching for connections to some of these people and to information that precedes what I have.
I have Moffetts in our family from Kent Co. MD. My great-aunt Nannie Satterfield married Hack Moffett. They lived in Rock Hall, MD for many years then moved to Lynchburg, VA.
Nannie was born in Edesville, MD 7/6/1888 and died 6/5/1944. Don't have given name or any dates on Hack Moffett. His name, I'd always heard from my Dad. Nannie's parents were James Simon Satterfield, born in Rock Hall, MD on 6/25/1865, died 7/10/1950 and Mary Catherine "Kate" Godwin Satterfield born in Edesville, MD on 8/28/1869, died on 3/21/1897. Following her death, the children were sent to live with family and friends. James Satterfield remarried and had two other children, Nadine Satterfield married a Chadwell, and Anaminta Satterfield married a Reese. Her two sisters were Mary Carrie born in 1889 and my grandmother, Julia born 1894. Nannie went with her little sister, Julia to live with James F. and Alice T. Jewell along with John F. Godwin. Julia went, at sometime and lived with Rev. CM Compher, a Methodist minister and his family and he later married she and my grandfather in Lynchburg, VA. Carrie went to live with Mary E. Wickes, who also had two other boarders, Milton L. Maslin and Grafton Brookins according the 1900 census. There were two brothers, Jack and James. James Satterfield was listed as the grandson of Mary E. Culley and was living with her and her son William W. Culley, who was an oysterman. James drowned at the age of 16 in Kent Co. Md.
John/Jack was a boarder with Francis Orr and her son Price Orr also listed as an oysterman. Carrie married Joe Vesperman and they owned and lived over a bakery in Baltimore MD with their three sons. Julia married Anthony Harvey Mason and they lived in Lynchburg, VA. The Jewell family information written in my grandmother's bible is: Jesse H. Jewell, son of James F and Alice T Jewell was born 9/24/1881 and died 10/18/1881. James Jewell died 7/13/1911 aged 64. Jesse L Kendall died 7/20/1909 aged 74. John M Kendall died 7/1/1911 aged 78. Tobitha Wheat died 8/28/1911 aged 75. and Alice Jewell died 7/8/1921. I'm sending all of this information in hopes that someone may recall hearing this from a relative or it may be written in a bible.
