Dana, It sounds as though you really hit the mother lode! It would be a true blessing to work with you in any way to obtain copies of your friends information. IF the uniform ever turns up, as a professional photographer, I would love to make photo's that can be of professional quality to save for all for the future. One interesting bit of history I discovered was that BOTH of my predecessors were at Appamatox on that incredibly famous day...from my father's side, his great grandfather Edwin Green Walker was there with the NY Cavalry. Now that was an eye-opener! If there is ANY way to get photos and copies of the family bible, those images too would be wonderful item to preserve for posterity. I actually grew up being told the stories of the northerners going through the low country from my grandmother, the wife of Samuel T..Plus, with your info I think that I can now determine the name of my mother's sister who died from burns when her dress was ignited by the same wood stove that I well remember in my grandmother's kitchen. SO many memories! My mother was Edna Godwin of Lake City.
