Thanks for the info! My mind is boggled by all the William Godbys. I just did another search to confirm some links I have been researching and found William Godby, the father of my great great great grandfather John Godby, listed about 5 different ways showing his wife Eliza born in 1804 and 1811. I'd like to confirm if her parents are Nicholas and Mary (Polly) Massey and when she was born. This research has taken me in so many directions. I believe I linked the Godbys back to the first Thomas Godby who settled in Virginia in 1714(10) and who came over on the Deliverance, but it's hard to really get solid evidence as the databases are so iffy. Looking back over all the postings, there has been some great history and I sure appreciate it all. Did you see the posting on Oct. 2, 2005 from jc re. Edward Godby, the paper provided by A.H. Godby? It's twelve pages long and a very thorough history on the Godby's and the branches that went to Kentucky, Missouri etc. It is facinating history. Another posting from Daniella Fulton on July 30, 2002 provides the will of Frances Cheadle (formerly Godby) in 1739. Fascinating!
