William Godbey was born September 29, 1750 in Caroline County VA. His wife "Zanner" was born November 10, 1751, place unknown. William Godbey Jr. was born June 6, 1775 place unknown, but not Montgomery County Virginia since William Godbey did not leave Carolina County until 1783. There was no William Godbey born 1750 in Fincastle County Virginia for the simple reason that Fincastle County did not exist at that time and there are no records of any Godbey in Augusta County Virginia. "Susannah" comes from the parentage of Francis Marion Godbey's death register in Pulaski County, VA. Godbey's Bluff is not in Halifax County
Virginia but is located near New Berne, Pulaski County Virginia. I have a picture of the old home place which was at one time used as a "poor farm". Most of the old homeplace is under water (Claytor Lake).

If you are interested in the Godbey family you might want to get a copy of the genealogy papers of Dr. Allen Godbey
from the library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill(Godbey Papers #1599, Southern Historical Collection.)

I, nor any other Godbey researcher, have ever identified "Zanner"'s maiden name.
