I need help determining a connection between the Goble family and my ancestors, the Hobbs.
A marriage license was issued on Feb.12,1839 in Floyd Co., KY for Arthur Hobbs and Mary Fraley. In it, an Isaac Goble was listed as guardian to Arthur.
Arthur was born Sep.10,1818 in Russell Co,VA to Arthur and Mary Hobbs.
I found his father, Arthur, in the 1820 Russell Co.,VA census, but have been unable to find him prior or after.
As for Arthur himself, I've been unable to find him in any census prior to 1840. I was able to find him in the 1840 Floyd Co, KY census. He moved to Wayne Co,(VA)WV within that decade, and I have him well-documented there.
I need to find the connection to Isaac Goble. Why was he Arthur's guardian? Is he related somehow or was he a friend of Arthur's father?
Any tidbit or clue would help.
