My records indicate that the Hugh Goben who married Nancy Amick (21 Dec. 1853 in Clark Co. IN) is different from the Hugh who married Hannah Smith (1841? in Putnam Co. OH).
Hugh (b. 1809-10 in VA) appears in the 1850 Putnam Co. OH census at age 41 with wife Hannah, age 36, b. in Ohio.
Hugh (b. 1809-10 in VA) appears in the 1850 Putnam Co. OH census at age 41 with wife Hannah, age 36, b. in Ohio. The other Hugh (b. about 1825 in IN) appears in the 1860 Clark Co. IN census, age 34, with wife Nancy, age 29.They have 3 young children ages 6, 4, 1, and live next door to Charles Goben.
The other Hugh (b. about 1825 in IN) appears in the 1860 Clark Co. IN census, age 34, with wife Nancy, age 29.They have 3 young children ages 6, 4, 1, and live next door to Charles Goben.I believe the younger Hugh (b. 1825) is the son of William and Unity (Durham) Goben.(I'm descended from this William, by his first wife Rebecca.)
I believe the younger Hugh (b. 1825) is the son of William and Unity (Durham) Goben.(I'm descended from this William, by his first wife Rebecca.)The older Hugh (b. 1809-10 in VA) seems to be related to William Goben (b. about 1803 in VA), who also lived in Putnam Co. Ohio.I have not been able to find records of any Gobens in Virginia, but obviously there were some in the 1803-1810 time frame. If anyone has any info about the Virginia Gobens, please let me know.More Replies:
