Yes, I also have a copy of the Gobbels of Rowan. There were actually two books and the cousin who wrote them is deceased now. They have lots of good information about the family.

According to his records, Johann Jacob Gobbel was born about 1660 in Germany. He married Maria Margretta Rheinmuller and had two children, John Frederick Gobbel (b. 1701 in Offenbach, Birkenfelt, Germany) and John Philip Gobbel (b. about 1698 also in Germany). At least the two sons came to the U.S. in 1739 aboard the Samuel. They moved to Rowan County sometime later. John Frederick had a son (b. 1730) who he also named John Philip. This son was buried in Rowan County, NC. John Philip married Elizabeth Catherine Colmann and became my great-great-great-great-great grandfather.

I do remember the Isaac Harrison name from the book, but am not sure at this point how they line up with my branch of the family.

I actually uploaded a lot of this information, but I don't see it anywhere, so I guess I didn't do something correctly. It's been great fun and terribly interesting, so if I can be of any help, I'd be happy to. Feel free to contact me.

Happy hunting.
