Artemas Martin married Elizabeth Dickerson Glover - Mass.
Elizabeth was the daughter, and oldest child, of Private Samuel Glover born 24 Apr 1756 in Needham, Mass., and Miriam Clark born 16 Apr 1762 in Sturbridge, Mass. The historian in Salem, Washington County, New York, has a very important letter that gives a lot of information about the Glovers, and it was written by Elizabeth. It corrects a lot of information about where some of her siblings were born and who they were, etc. They were not all born in Sturbridge as other records have incorrectly stated.
Artemas and Elizabeth married 5 Apr 1781 in Sturbridge, Worcester, Mass.
Only Elizabeth and her brother, Rev. Samuel Shumway Glover, were born in Sturbridge. Henry Glover was born 6 Dec 1785 in Wadsboro, Windham, Vermont. Lucy Glover was born 17 Jan 1788 also in Wardsboro. the others were all born in Washington County, New York.
I would love to hear from any of the descendants of this couple. Samuel and Miriam had thirteen children. One of them was my ancestor, Sally Glover born 28 Dec 1797 in Salem, Washington County, New York, who married Jeremiah Wheeler.
