Hi wendy: my maternal grandmother was a glover and I heard that same story from my mother. Story is that particular glover left his wife in VA Botecourt co and went to NC where he married a dutch woman and started over.
As far as I know the guy never divorced his wife in VA. My grandfather was Thomas James Glover, his dad was Drury/Drewry Glover from GA/FL. Thomas James married Mary Jane Plymel/Plimel/Plymale from the line my grandmother descended. Thomas James had siblings listed in the 1850 Gadsden Co. FL census as William & Newton. His mom's name was Louisa. Let me know if this helps any.
