My husband's earliest known ancestor is George Glover, born about 1775 in South Carolina, if his 1850 census is to be trusted. He married, moved to TN for about 20 years, then moved to Alabama. The "oral" tradition, if that is what you call it, is that they are Dutch. If there are any other Glover's out there that have the same tradition, let's compare notes. By the way, we just did a DNA test at half price thru Ancestry.com. Only one other Glover family is in the database as being a match, and it appears that they also came out of South Carolina. Apparently our DNA type is a rare type in comparision to others. If people with brick walls are serious about getting over them, let's start with getting those remaining Glover males tested while the prices are down. And yes, there was a verified Glover family living in the Netherlands back in the early 1600's. They were involved in trading Virginia tobacco. Notify Administrator about this message?
