If you are looking for Samuel Gliddon (1815) suggest you are on the wrong track. The only Sam in that area was born at Morwenstow Cornwall 9 Jul 1815, the son of Samuel and Ann (a Farmer of that Parish). He appears in the 1841 census, allong with his parents and their other children, William 1811, Thomas 1816, and Elizabeth 1821. John 1817 and Ann 1814 are both in the vicinity employed as Farm Servants.
I had similar trouble with another Thomas Gliddon born at Bridgerule (the Tailor was not my man). The problem is twofold:
1.Bridgerule has not been transcribed in the IGI.
2.Brigerule West(Cornwall) was seperated from Bridgerule East(Devon) by the river Tamar which formed the county boundary. The whole of the parish was then incorporated into Devon in 1850.
