Joseph's father is Capt. David Glidden, born Unity, 14 Dec. 1780, died in De Kalb Dec. 1848. Married Polly Hurd, daughter of Stephen and Abigail (Glidden) Hurd of Newport. She was born in Newport, 28 Dec. 1788 and died in De Kalb in Sept. 1860.
Joseph's grand-father is Ens. Simeon Glidden, born about 1745. gggrand-father- Jonathan Glidden born in Exeter about 1696. ggggrand-father- Capt. Richard 1665 portsmouth. gggg - Charles Glidden 1632 England
