My Gt Gt Gt Grandfather was George GLENDAY,miller and Baker. He died in 1840 aged 68.His first wife, Ann was born c1768 but neither her birthplace or marriage date is known. They first appear in SLEAFORD,LINCS in 1791. There are no known records of a GLENDAY in Lincs prior to then. There is a record of George GLENDAY being baptised in KIRRIEMUIR, Scotland in 1772 but there is no known connection with my George. Ann died in 1813 and he remarried to Mary BRADLEY daughter of John BARRAND in 1814. Ann was neice of Mary ALMOND nee LEE. The ALMOND family were another milling family in the town. Mary died in 1832 and he remarried again to Sarah MACKEE spinster in 1834.Known descendants include BLAND,BROWN,LORD and FARROW. If anyone knows how George arrived in Lincolnshire I would be interested to know. The GLENDAY name has been passed down as a christian name through several branches of the family.
If anyone is researching into these families and we are not in touch feel free to contact me.
