Hi Michael,
You were quite right.Agnes parents were Archibald and Jane (or Jean).I had no record of her and have not found any reference to her in OPR, but this week I got a copy of John Glendinning from Effgill's will .In fact there are two Johns, but the one that matters is old John who was born in 1734 and died unmarried in 1811.He had an estate of over £5000 to leave and no children so distributed it to all his nieces and nephews, among whom were the following Laidlaws: Walter, Andrew, Elizabeth, Jean, and John's widow Margaret (it looks like Burnet). So I searched for these children with a Glendinning mother and found Agnes Glendinning and Andrew Laidlaw. This would make Agnes a sister of this John Glendinning and daughter of Archibald Glendinning and Jane Beatty. Her other siblings were Janet who married Simon Little in 1758, James b 1731 and presumed died before Dec 1738 and James b 17 Dec 1738 married Isabel Beattie, my 4g-grandparents.
Archibald Glendinning is son of James Glendinning and Agnes Little from Westerkirk.I have details of most of their descendants onmy web site at www.cults.freeserve.co.uk/ancestry/glenfam but these Laidlaws are not added yet.
Any info on the Laidlaw descendants would be appreciated.Maybe easier to email me direct rather than post here.
Ian
