I have just started doing family research on the Glendenning line of Westerkirk and Eskdalemuir parishes in Dumfriesshire in the Borders of Scotland. If you are still interested I have the information that you require. Your James married Barbara in Streetsville I believe. I cannot find their marriage in the Scottish parish registers and James' father came over in 1818 and directly applied for land in Toronto Twp. Your James had been in Canada for about 16 years before he married. I suspect Barbara would have come from one of the Scottish families of the Borders that emigrated together such as Paterson, Thomson, Irvine, Johnson, Armstrong or Little families. He may have found his wife locally or in Scarborough where the rest of the 'clans' lived. She was born about 1814 in Scotland. I would be interested in sharing info about the Streetsville Glendennings as I am putting the line together at the present time.
Carolyn
