Gleaves Cemetery Davidson Co., TN
My second great-grandfather Frederick Binkley built a log house in the early 19th century at Hermitage, Davidson Co., TN.The house was still standing when I visited the area as a child in 1957.Unfortunately we did not take any pictures, and about ten years later the Corps of Engineers built a dam on the site.I can't believe that a house that stood for over 150 years was not photographed by someone at some time. This property was later owned by a Binkley-related family named Gleaves, and the family graveyard was recorded in Corps of Engineers records as the Gleaves Cemetery. (The graves were moved by the Corps to Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens in nearby Wilson Co., TN.) If anyone is related to this Gleaves family of Hermitage, Davidson Co., TN, I would like to hear from them, particularly if they think they know of a photograph of the Frederick Binkley home.
