Gleason Family Genealogy Forum
If your Enoch is my Enoch then it looks like we're cousins, many times removed! I am related to Lucy GLEASON--she m. Noble GUNN in the Canaan, CT area in
1786, she was 15 yrs. old. Noble fought in the Revolution (he d. in Lenox, OH in 1830), therefore we've been able to find Lucy's father was Ariel GLEASON (b. 24
January 1743 in Enfield, CT).
Have you seen the Genealogy of Thomas GLEASON, by John Barber WHITE? On Pg. 135 there is Ariel. At the publication of this book (I am unsure if there is an
updated version--I'm hoping so) there was nothing known about Ariel's wife. And Lucy is not among the family. But her brothers Arial (spelled with an "a" here) and
Elijah are both mentioned. In Noble GUNN's Pension Application there is info about both Elijah and Arial, too (giving ages and place of residence). This is how I
connected the families. This family of GLEASONs were from the New Marlboro, Massachusetts area. Check out the book--I think you'll find it intriguing. Here's the
Thomas GLEASON (b.1607 in Sulgrave, England)
William GLEASON (b. 1655 in Cambridge, Mass.)
John GLEASON (b. 1683 in Cambridge, Mass.)
John GLEASON (b. 1706 in Enfield, CT)
Ariel GLEASON (b. 1743 in Enfield, CT)
I'm hoping to find info on Ariel's wife--if there is info somewhere. Also, Lucy had a sister who Noble married. The sister (whose name I hope to find, as well) died,
therefore Noble married Lucy GLEASON.
