My family is in/from Gortnahoe, Tipperary, which is about seven miles from Thurles. My grandfather Patrick, born 1866, and his sister Margaret came to the US in the 1890's, eventually settling in Fairfield, CT. They were the only siblings to emigrate, leaving all other family members in Ireland. Related names include Egan and Long, also from Gortnahoe, and vicinity. Best wishes to you for your search! Kevin G.
