I've replied to 2 old Samuel Gleason posts but thought it wise to post on the main Gleason forum. I'm looking for info. on my ggg grandfather, Samuel Gleason, b. 1804, VT (d. 1/12/84, Red Oak, Iowa), whose second wife was Philinda Erchenbrack (or Erkanbrack), b. 1818 or 19 (d. 1910, Pacific Palisades, CA). Their son, Jacob, was my gg grandfather. I came across an 1880 "US Western and Prairie Census Index" that lists a Sam Gleason, Minn., Blue Earth Co., Mankato, 76 yrs., Ret. Preacher, Divorced (the last 2 pieces of info are the only ones that don't sound right). It goes on to say "mother b. NH; father b. MA"
Because of the divorced preacher info., and the number of Samuel Gleasons I've noted here, I don't know if this is the correct Samuel Gleason. I would like to know who his parents are, and when, where and where from these Gleasons arrived in the States/Colonies. Any one have any info.? (p.s. I've noticed McNeils posting in this forum... My McNeil ancestor arrived 1739, NY, from Islay...).
