Thanks for your reply. About the only sources I have for Porter is an obituary and a Steuben County, IN, biography. I believe that his family was in Ohio by 1820 when his sister was born, and Marion County is mentioned. There are several Gleason listed on the 1820 Ohio census, and we think maybe the father could be either Amasa Gleason or Jason Gleason by the census. The Onondaga County residence is from about 1815 to 1820, could be longer. Sorry, I don't as yet have a connection to any of your family names. Thanks again.
