LINCOLN - Joseph L. Gleason Sr., 81, of Lincoln died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

He was born July 26, 1925, in Broadwell, the son of Thomas Richard and Loretta Guindola Lee Gleason. He married Dorothy Damarin in 1949 in Elkhart. A son, Steven Gregory Gleason, preceded him in death.

Mr. Gleason was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a farmer for 54 years in Chester and Hurlbut townships. He was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 616, 164th Infantry Association of the United States, VFW Post 1756 and Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Survivors: wife, Dorothy; three sons, Joe (wife, Jinx) Gleason Jr. and Bob (wife, Brenda) and David (wife, Debbie) Gleason, all of Lincoln; two daughters, Marcia (husband, Dennis) Schrader and Jan Gleason, both of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; and four brothers, Leo (wife, Joyce) Gleason of Clawson, Mich., Walter (wife, Myra) Gleason of Pekin and John (wife, Phyllis) and Frank (wife, Rosamond) Gleason, both of Berkley, Mich.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Holy Family Church, Lincoln, the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
