Hi Carole!

Henry Gleason was born in either Greene, or Coventry, Chenango, the time of the 1820 census the family of his parents - Joseph Gleason - was living in Coventry (where older brother Lyman was born - Lyman, incidentally, supposedly had a daughter named "Freelove Orvilla"); by the 1830 census they are in Greene, Chenango 1840 they are in Dyberry PA, of course.

Henry's father Joseph HAS to be the son of Benjamin and Mary (Cole) Gleason, born in 1794 in New Hampshire...Joseph has sons named Lyman, Willard and Wilson, Benjamins brothers ALSO had sons named Lyman, Willard and Wilson (these names, along with Abel and Alvin, pop up frequently in that family). Some trees show Joseph with two other wives - Chloe Bell (by whom he had a daughter named Mary), and Abigail Reade (but I think Abigail might have married a different Joseph).

Still no sign of Sophia Orville Allen's parents though...too many Allens in MA! (though I've asked someone to see if the original marriage record is available...since Sophia was a minor at the time of the marriage, there <might> be something to glean from the original - perhaps after the New Year we'll know).
