This message directed to Stephen Mihm and other researchers looking for E P Gleason. I have been searching E P Gleason for sometime as his daughter Melissa Gleason married Abial C Granger in Vermont, 1823. Abial C. Granger, my g g grandfather was a forgotten man in our family , we believe due to his activities in Canada and Illinois during the period of 1834 to 1856. Abials, 4 sons and 1 daughter do not show him on their death certificates as father, as they show father recorded as unknown, although he had lived with two of them as per census of 1860 and 1870 records in Bremer Co. Iowa. I believe E P Gleason was born in New York and married an Indian wife at some point. In 1823 his family was in Vermont were his daughter married. He may have gone to Canada with Abial C. Granger family from 1834 to 1838, but appears on the 1840 census of DeKalb Co. Illinois along with Abial Granger family. E P Gleason purchased considerable land in DeKalb Co. Ill, although Abial Granger records none.
