Your surname is included in the Barbour collection of Town Vital Records for Middletown, Middlesex, CT.
These listings are quite accurate, being taken from original town records, but there have to be some missing due to flood, fire, pestience, etc. etc. If your ancestor is NOT on this list, it does not mean he/she didn't live in the town or city. It means you have more of a hunt on your hands, sorry about that. I hope you find your ancestor here.
Jane has so many resources on her website for Middlesex County, CT that you would do well to bookmark this site. Her Wills & Probates (near the top of the listing of resources) is a wealth of informaton, so be sure to look through those as well.
If you have any IRISH ancestry that you think came to Middletown, this (and subsequent additions to this Barbour collection on Jane's site)the Barbour collection for Middletown is a treasure.

I know there's a graveyard in Middletown with all manner of Irish stones. I was looking for Hubbards in Riverside cemetery and this other cem was close by, so I wandered through there as well and it was one wonderful Irish name after the other. What a find!!
