Margaret A. (Gleason) Clare

I seek information on the parentage and family of my great-great grandmother Margaret A. Gleason, who was born in Newfoundland on June 11, 1811, of parents (names unknown to me)who were born in Ireland. By 1834 she had come to the United States (with or without her parents?) and had married William Clare, a native of Ireland. They lived briefly at Pittsburgh, Pa., then at Tuscaloosa, Ala., and finally at Washington, D.C., where Margaret kept a boarding house onf Capitol Hill. She died at Washington on July 7, 1885. She had several children, including Major William Clare, of the Confederate Army; Amanda Clare (Sister Mary Samuel), one of the founders of Mount de Sales Convent, Catonsville, Md., and Mary Adele Clare, who married William Henry Clagett, of Washington, D.C.
