maureen: interesting coore doonagen ennis connection! i do not know of any gleeson/gleason relatives that we had in ny. they were all in connecticut. patrick would have left ireland in 1870 or so as my grandfather was born in 1882 in east haddam, connectcut. the other children were robert, urban and gert. robert died as a baby, urban as a teen, and gert never married but lived with my grandparents in later years.all of these people are buried in middletown. my grandfather did move to brooklyn in 1900 or so and owned/operated the opera stables then the opera garage on halsey street until the 1930's, and then moved back to middletown, to fowler avenue, and i have vague momories of that house as a kid. my father, eugene gleason, was born in brooklyn. he worked at guardian life insurance company, where he met my mother, gertrude nee bonsaing, which is a viennese name. we did live in parkchester for many years and my parents were original tenants. my brother jimmy and i went to st helena's. we lived in 24 met oval most of those years. my brother lives in new rochelle and i live in naples, florida, tho am in connecticut now as we have had a family cottage in waterford since the 1950's. anyway, anything is possible. i was always curious how patrick gleeson (then it was changed to gleason by immigation, evidently) found east haddam of all places. he was a silver burnisher by trade. he had married a woman named hannah donovan who had been born in middletown in 1858, so i have always wondered if somehow some relative married a donovan and sent for patrick and his sister, brigid. anyway, my phone number in ct is 860-442-2954 and my e-mail is

take care and stay well.
