Hi George
I've traced William Glave born circa 1775 back to Burneston in the Yorkshire Dales - I had originally thought the Burniston cited in the 1851 Census was the place near Scarborough.I looked through the parish records of Scalby and Cloughton but had no luck - by pure fluke I discovered another "Burniston" in the Dales and found William's birth recorded there.I found his father's(also William) tombsone in Burneston (Dales) churchyard with a badly eroded inscription on the back - all I could really make out was Glave and Leyburn. However, I am very interested to hear that you have traced the Glave family back to Scalby, I know there were Glaves there but have not been able to link them to my Glaves.
I am sure that we are researching the same family but am not quite sure how our Glaves fit together yet - am I right in thinking that your Glaves descend from Charles Glave, the son of Thomas Glave?
I am also interseted in the Heyburn you mention as I am currently stuck and desperate for another lead!
Best Wishes
Kath
