Lorene Clay Glasscock
SOUTHLAKE Lorene Clay Glasscock, 90, joined her beloved husband Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday in Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow in Lubbock, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to KWO(Kenya Widows/Orphans) c/o Golf Course Road Church of Christ, 3500 Golf Course Road, Midland, TX, 79707. Lorene died peacefully in Southlake, Texas, with family by her side. Lorene was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Wheeler County, Texas, to Nettie and Tom Clay. She attended Kelton High School and later West Texas College where she was an avid basketball player. Lorene met and married the man of her dreams, Marion Glasscock, on May 24, 1941. She happily packed up and moved her family 48 times during their 67 year marriage. Throughout Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and Texas, Lorene was known as an incredible cook, a gracious hostess, and a woman of faith and character. She fervently put God, her family, and her friends as priorities in her life. Lorene became a World Bible School teacher and was passionate about teaching African orphans about the love of God. A feeding station for orphans in Kenya was built in her honor in 2011 and named The Lorene "Nana" Glasscock Feeding Station. Lorene was a proud and involved member of Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo, Texas, for more than 30 years. Lorene's greatest joy on earth was to pamper and spoil her eight granddaughters: Ashlee Stites, Cameron Barnes, Brittany Polk, Cassidi Murray, Channing Borecki, Garen Glasscock, Ginna Schmidt and Gaylen Schmidt. Her life was abundantly blessed with the births of 11 great-grandchildren and the arrival of two more in 2012. Proudly serving as pallbearers are Lorene's grandsons-in-law. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, T.J. Clay and Teddy Clay; and her husband. She is survived by her twin sister, Morene Howell, and her older sister, Maselle Craig. Lorene will be greatly missed by her daughters, Gayle Mansker and her husband, Kyle of Beeville, Texas, and Sandi Holder of Southlake, Texas; and her son, Gary Glasscock and his wife, Gaye of Midland, Texas.
