Daniel William Cox Jr.
MINDEN, LA - Mr. Cox was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and entered into rest at the age of 84 years in Minden, Louisiana.
He was one of two children and son of the late Dan and Louise Cox. He married in 1948 to Norma Burt.
Mr. Cox graduated from Bossier High School in 1944 and later attended Centenary College. After he married he worked for Firestone for a number of years and then in 1968 he became plant manager for Vivian Industrial Plastics In 1978 he moved to Vivian and later managed Caddo Boat Company as well. In 1997 he left Vivian, moving to Minden to be closer to his children. Mr. Cox was a life long animal lover. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and got huge joy out of finding a treasure or bargain at the auction. When he was younger he loved to hunt and once remarked that he thought it was a terrible week if he couldn't spend at least one day in the woods. He was a loving father, patient , kind and wise. His children say they never asked him a question, even in his last years, that he didn't know the answer.
He is survived by his sister Nancy Cox Arnold of Belcher, children Dianne Cox Tharpe of Minden, Danny Cox of San Francisco, California Darcy Cox Boggs of Homer, grandchildren Emily Boggs Glasscock of Minden and Megan Boggs of Shreveport and one great-grandson Hudson David Glasscock.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sam Abshire, Dr. Manish Dhawan and Harmony Life Hospice especially Rhonda Shively RN and Andrew Abshire, Chaplin.
There will be an informal gathering for friends and family in his honor from noon until 2pm on Saturday September 10 at the home of Hal and Darcy Boggs in Homer Louisiana.
