Rachel Glasgow b. 1775 VA

I don't find anyone researching my particular grandmother, Rachel Glasgow/Glascoe. She was born abt. 1775 VA., and married Henry Nichols/Nickles 12 Nov 1793 in Shenandoah Co., VA. (probate record).

Due to lost census records following their marriage, I find them next after 27 years of marriage in 1820 in Morgan Co., Ohio with 7 children still living at home. Those children I believe are: Israel (1799), Delilah (1803), Aley/Mahala (1805), Lucinda (1807), Henry (1810), Rachel (1811) and Samuel (1813) Nichols/Nickles. Although some of these children have been documented, some of them have not. There are probably 3 more children who had already left home before 1820, Nancy (1794), Andrew (1796) and Harrison (1801) Nichols/Nickles. I have info on all these children.

This family continued to be enumerated in Morgan County, Ohio through 1840, then in 1850 they were in Starr twp., Hocking Co., Ohio. Henry & Rachel, ages 85 & 75, were living with son Israel Nichols & his wife, Mary Craig, and their children.

Henry died in 1852 and Rachel died sometime before 1860. They were buried in the Campbell-Craig Cemetery in Starr twp., Hocking Co., Ohio. The cemetery has been destroyed in the name of progress, and Henry's gravestone was moved to the Asbury cemetery nearby and placed next to that of their son Israel. Rachel's stone did not survive and has been lost forever. Their mortal remains are still buried in their original location, which now happens to be under a mobile home/trailer park.

I have not been able to find a family with which to link my 5th gr-grandmother, Rachel Glasgow/Glascoe Nichols. I think it is most probable that her family was in Shenandoah, since that is where she married my grandfather.

If anyone has any information to help guide my research, I would be most appreciative. At this time, I have nothing more on the Glasgow/Glascoe family than what I have posted here, and would love to find more about Rachel Glasgow/Glascoe Nichols' family. I would be happy to share the information I have on the Nichols family in exchange for any new information on Rachel.

Thank you, Elaine (Nichols) Tipton.
