Pat,

I have some of the same stuff but no proof and a few deviations.

Colonel James Glasgow d. 11/17/1819. The official place he died at is suppose to be between Nashville and Murfreesboro but that is suspect.

In 1799-1800 when he was being indicted he supposeably had 5 minor children. I have not bee able to identify them.

Now Elizabeth...if you can give me more info, I will look while I am here in TN...but I have she had a 1st husband with last name of Martin. She was widowed by martin. Stokeley Donwlson was her second husband. Interesting thing is that Stokeley was also involved in the land fraud and it was his BROTHER IN LAW, Andrew Jackson, that spilled the beans to the NC senator's about the fraud over in TN. Supposeably Andrew Jackson was upset with Stokeley because Stokeley had told him that Rachel (ANdrew Jackson's soon to be wife) that she was single or divorced or whatever and Andrew & Rachel got married and then Andrew found out Rachel was not yet divorced. This caused Andrew Jackson lot's of problems...so he turned his "brother-in-law" in.

" Deeply involved in speculation as well as fraud, Donelson became the target for much litigation late in life and died deeply in debt. Sam B. Smith, et al, eds., The Papers of Andrew Jackson, Volume I 1770-1803 (Knoxville: The University of Tennessee Press, 1980), 37."

Now...if ANdrew is a brother in law to Stokeley Donelson.. that means Rachel is his Stokeley's sister.

Back to Elizabeth And Stokely. Stokley supposeably died 1805. (b1752) but I don't have that proven. M. 1797 where?

An older sister of Elizabeth was Martha Jones Glasgow Sheppard Scurlock. I suspect that Joseph Scurlock was involved in some manner in the land fraud as I see him selling land all over under the name of James Glasgow (his father in law.) Martha dies in 1818 in NC. Joseph remarries and leaves town within a few years...without most of his slaves and his land was sold at a very low price.

The only other child of Col James Glasgow that I am aware of is James Glasgow, Jr. who had been M. to Pherby Sheppard

That's about all I know. Let me know if you find dates/places in TN and I'll look them up.

Helen
