Merle Glaser Obit
MORENCI — Merle Glaser, 95, of Morenci passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at the Provincial House in Adrian.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1912, in Minier, Ill., the son of Frank and Laura (Curtis) Glaser. His first wife, Catherine Taylor, preceded in death on Jan. 6, 1936. His second wife, Evelyn Fausey, preceded in death on Oct. 13, 1978. His third wife, Nona (Sarver) Heston, survives in Milwaukie, Oregon. Also surviving are two daughters, Roberta (Robert) Arbuckle of Elkhart, Ind., and Rita (James) Roth of Morenci; three sons, Robert (Lillian) Glaser of Ellenton, Fla., Weldon (Peg) Glaser of Bryan, Ohio, and Wendell Glaser of Morenci; 21 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his first and second wives Merle was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Madeline Schaffner and Helen Maginn; one brother, Norman Glaser; and one great-grandson, Matthew Wilson.
Merle was Owner/Operator of Glaser Welding in Morenci from 1937 through 1974. He was a member of the Morenci Trinity Lutheran Church, the Morenci Eagles, and a long-time volunteer fireman. Merle also enjoyed being a wood carver, a gunsmith, a hunter, a fisherman, and building race cars and sport cars, and making hand-crafted jewelry.
Funeral service will be on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with the Rev. Steve Daley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation from Noon until the time of service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Morenci Fire Department or the Morenci Sportsman Club.
