Glaser Family Genealogy Forum

Hallo,
a Nikolaus Wilhelm Glaser, farmer, emigrated 1855 from Dunzweiler. Most emigrants of our region went to the area of Wheeling West Virginia. So your gggrandfather surely came from our Dunzweiler. The Palatinate(Pfalz) belonged only since 1815 to Bayern, and the people didnīt feel to be Bavarians. One of the reasons, why many young men emigrated to America was because they didnīt want to join the bavarian army. As I told in my first posting, all Glaserīs from Dunzweiler are descendants of the miller Johann Peter Glaser. His son Johannes (7. child), born 1752, married 1771 Maria Magdalena Müller. They had five children. The two youngest sons were named Johann Nikolaus (b. 1788) and Johann Wilhelm (b. 1791). In the next generation they mostly gave the same names to the children. So I suppose, your gggfather belongs to this part of the family. My book listed the families only till 1815, so their is a "missing link". Further informations, I have only about my part of the family, descendants of the oldest son of Johann Peter, Johann Konrad. The name of the book: Dorfbuch Dunzweiler 1247-1997 by Dieter Zenglein. In this book is a whole chapter about the Glaser family and their mill. From the same author: "To The Banks Of The Ohio" (Item Number A238ET).
You surely are a descendant of Johann Peter Glaser, son of Casimir Glaser from Winterbach. Greetings from the Palatinate to a gggggrand-Cousin!
