OBITUARY AS PRINTED IN THE JULY 3, 2001 WISCONSIN
POST-CRESCENT:

Dr. Gary J. Glascoe

Died Thursday, June 28, 2001, of brain cancer. He was born
on November 16, 1938, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to the late
Greer F. Glascoe and Thaylia Pearce Glascoe.

Dr. Glascoe was a staff specialist at Riverside Medical
Center in private practice as a clinical audiologist and
owner of Rural Audiology Services of Waupaca along with his
wife, Chris. He was actively involved as a volunteer staff
member at Faith Community Church in Waupaca as the Director
of Men's Ministry and a long-time Elder of the church.

He retired in 1999 after a 27-year teaching career at the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he was an
Associate Professor in the Audiology Department, School of
Communicative Disorders. Dr. Glascoe was instrumental in
bringing computing technology to UW-SP.

He had a B.S. degree from Pacific University, an M.A. in
Speech Pathology from Western Michigan University and a
Ph.D. in Audiology from the University of Denver. He began
his career at UW-SP in August 1973.

The most important milestone for Gary was when he turned
direction of his life over to Jesus Christ as his Lord and
Savior in August 1976 followed by his marriage to Christine
Elkins in December of that year.

More than anything he enjoyed a wide circle of friends in
the academic community, the business and professional
community, and the Christian communities of Waupaca and
northeast Wisconsin. He will be well remembered as a
speaker and leader with a beautiful, deep resonant voice,
and a sparkling sense of humor. He combined this with a
life-long enthusiasm and participation in music as a
musician and choir singer.

He had a passion for sharing his faith in Jesus with others
and his work at Faith Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; two sons, Lee G.
Glascoe, Oakland, California; Jay T. Glascoe, New York
City, New York; stepdaughter Lisa A. (Blowney) Simonson,
Waupaca; a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Kenneth
Seppa, Vancouver, Washington. Gary very much enjoyed his
two grandchildren, Drew P. Simonson and Avery C. Simonson.
