Peter Gleare- Passenger and Immigration Lists- Virginia, 1637(year of arrival). This Gleare may have been the original immigrant, and progenitor of our Glares. Anyone have additional info on that theory? Because of the way Stephen was mentioned in Peter Glar's will of 1763 in Craven County, NC, I think those two were siblings, not father/son. Also, Stephen, as one of the Glare decendants mentioned, had to be born quite awhile before 1760 to have so many married children before 1794, when his will was written. There are deeds where Stephen was conducting business in the area that also shows he had to have been born a lot earlier than 1760.

I have doubts that Mary's maiden name was Bencaler. That dog won't hunt.
