Glackins of Cleendra, Dungloe, Co. Donegal

Hiya,

I have just started working on my family tree and so far this is what I've got. If anyone can add to it I'd really appreciate your help!

My great granny was Mary Glackin born on 22/5/1866 in Cleendra, Dungloe. She married James Sharkey of Anagry West, Donegal.

Mary had 8 brothers and one sister. I haven't found her sisters name yet.
Her brothers were: Charlie & Thomas (Toberkeen, Dungloe)
Henry, Anthony and Patrick (Cleendra, Dungloe)
and John, James and Joseph who emigrated to America. We have no further information on the those that emigrated except there was mention of California and I think it was in relation to Joseph but the source was unclear about that.

The father of this Family was Henry Glackin of Cleendra and the Mother was Ann O'Donnell. At the moment I have no further information.

There were definately some relatives in Scotland as well after that time. There are fiddle players and flute players in the family.

I think Tom Glackin perhaps did a tour of Scotland with Fiddler Francie Mooney (Prionsias O' Maoinaigh).

There is said to be 6 generations of Henry's but I haven't found them all yet. Other common names throughout the family are Tom, Patrick, Charlie, John, James, Bridget, Annie and Sarah.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Adh mór!
Theresa
