Yes Joshua this is the Richard that I was inquiring about. I too have doubts that the Givan family originated in France, but since the information I have found in Northern Ireland about the Given's around the town of Dungiven and the Dungiven castle which was dated around 1000 A.D. I think perhaps Given ,Givan, Gavan and Givens that came from Ireland to Scotland, Whales , Holland, and France are all the same family. I did run across a Dutch coat of arms for Givan which is similar to the Given coat of arms. I am looking for more information on Richard's father and family. Thank you.
