My paternal Grandmother's family name was Giudice and not GuidicI. Her Grand Granfather was Stefan Giudice and came from Spain to Latinamerica during the 1770s ,particularly to El Salvador,in Central America,as a merchant. He used to trade on Indigo,a substance wich is extracted in El Salvador from a silvester plant called Jiquilite and has been used for centuries as a colorant for fabrics, specially for Jeans.
He had two sons and two daughters from his marriage to Dominga de Guzman or Gozmao and all of them were born in El Salvador. One of them,Joseph,is my Grandmother' s Granfather. His son Manuel was my Grandmothers' s Father and he changed his family name to Yudice(a hispanic transliteration, because of its sound in Spanish).
I don't know wich part of Spain my ancestor was coming from, but I believe this Giudices(or Giudici) were originally Italians, who emigrated to Spain. One thing is sure:they were Jews(Sepharadies). I also don't know wich part of Italy they were coming from, because there are many branches, one of them in Sicily and other in the Tuscany.
After your reply,we can "talk" a little bit more on our basque ancestors.
