I found record of another combo of William Gist sr married to Francis Fincher and their son is Willaim Henry Gist.
Then Thomas Gist married to Susan Cockey. Their son is Gen Mordecai Gist and his son is State Rights Gist.
That would make Gen Mordecai Gist and William Henry Gist cousins and States Rights Gist would be a second Cousin.
In any even I am trying to connect them back to John Cockey Owings who is the nephew of Susan Cockey. Then to John Cockey Owings of Jacob Myers Slate Creek Iron Works in Kentucky. I am trying to prove that the Myers family in Kentucky is the same Myers/Hays/Mordecai family in Charleston SC that belongs to CSA Col Abraham Charles Myers. I already have have a connection of the Owings family to the DuPont's of Baltimore and Col Myers was Henry Dupont's class mate at West Point. Class of 1833.
