Charles Geisingers name was Joseph Carlos Geisinger, and he was my 4th great grandfather. He was born in Austria and joined the military in Portugal. He came to America as an indentured servant on the ship Cullodian in 1766, and sold into white slavery in New Jersey. He escaped twice and eventually joined the PA. Army in the U.S. and fought in the Revolutionary War. He spent the winter with George Washington at Valley Forge and served under the command of Mad Anthony Wayne and took part in the capture of Stony Point. He married Sarah Catherine Plank, and his children lived in PA. and OH. One of his children, John Thomas Geisinger became the first constable of Perry County, Ohio...who was also known as a Blacksmith.
You can find a very interesting story about this man at the Mower Family website: http://www.mowerfamily.org
