My great great Grandfather Girling was possibly born in England and may have resided at some stage in Wales. Or visa versa. He was a military man back in the 1800 and I think he served some time in India. As he grey older he bacame patially blind and had to read with words 2 or 3 inches from his face. He was very clever at a hobby called "Snipa Snap" Cutting silouettes out of white paper in fine detail and placing on a black background. He won a competition for "The Battle of Balaclatha" He was run over and killed by one of the first motor bikes introduced onto the English/London roads. He had a daughter by the name of Mary. My Grandmother. Her first marriage was into the name Kirby. My great great Granfather was possibly Illegitimate and was possibly conceived by a woman of Welsh decent or a woman working in Wales at the time.
