PLEASE HELP. I cannot go any further. My G.Grandfather was James Henry Gipson b. 1861 in W VA d. 1916 in Crittenden Co. KY, is buried at the Piney Fork Cemetery, Crittenden Co. was married 6-6-1889 to Mary Alice Travis b. 5-5-1871 in Crittenden Co. KY d. 4-4-1958 Crittenden Co.
My grandfather George "Luther" Gipson b. 12-26-1889 in Vienna, IL d. Jul 9 1981 in Crittenden Co. KY, was the 1st of 11 children.
The family story is that James & 2 sisters lived w/ parents in backwoods of W VA when Indians raided their cabin killing both parents. The children survived by hidding upstairs. He(age 19)loaded the wagon w/his 2 sisters (14 & 16) & came to Crittenden Co. KY where he worked for his future father-in-law (Francis "Marion" Travis).
No one knows exactly what happened to the girls, but think they were hired out as maids to wealthy politicians in TN.
