Gipe of Ohio and Germany

Hi, I am looking for information on my great grandfather Charles E. Gipe. I know he was married to Sarah Ziegler and they had 4 daughters all born in Montpelier Ohio from 1902-1915. He was born about 1874 in Ohio. I found an 1880 census where a Charles Gipe, age 6 was taken in to be raised by Michael and Christina Guinther in Florence Township, Williams County, Ohio. The name may have been mispelled as Geip. There is a Gipe family on the same Census roll, all the children were born in Ohio and the parents in the same City in Germany where the Guinther's came from. This family is headed by Margaret and consists of 3 daughters, Elizabeth, Caroline and Lavinia. There are also two men, Noah and Tobias Gipe on the census roll who were born in Ohio and their parents born in the same German City as Margaret and the Guinthers. Margarets mother also lived with her and her name was Mary Schnuchen (?) There is no 1890 census as it was destroyed in a fire. Noah and Tobias are the only Gipes left in that county in the 1900 census! If anyone can help me solve this mystery I would be very grateful. Thank you, Jeanne
