I am the great-grandaughter of Adam Ginther (born July 22, 1841 in Peterstal Russia, married Katharina Kaphenstein Dec. 28, 1860. They settled near Greeley Colorado in 1888. I have significant information regarding Adam's descendants, but none regarding his heritage. Many of the Ginthers and Martins left Peterstal and settled in Hoffnungsburg prior to coming to the US. I have some of the birth and death records from Hoffnungsburg. I do see the death of a Peter Martin, son of Adam Martin and Katharina Ginther on Feb. 22, 1876 in Hoffnungsburg. I too have tried to contact Emily Messmer from her previous post, as there is most certainly a Ginther/Kaphenstein connection with her, but to no avail.
