Hall of Fame baseball player Ty Cobb was born in Royston, Ga. (Franklin County). His uncle (by marriage)and friend was Clifford Ginn, also of Royston. They were close in age and were childhood playmates. Later in life, Clifford helped as a notary public for the Cobb family and occasionally as a driver for Ty. Clifford was the son of Steve A. Ginn, a successful merchant in Royston. Steve Ginn was also national famous for his prize gamecocks and hens.
