Angeline Gilstrap was daughter of Wiley Gilstrap who died before 1839 in Meriwether County, GA. I have never seen reference to his wife's name. She was alive in the 1830 census (20-30 years old), but was not alive to become guardian of her children Angeline, William and Wiley Jr. when Wiley died. A Joel WOOTEN was appointed guardian in 1839, John T. CARTER and Thomas ROBERTS were securities. I have not pursued these names to see if there was a family connection. Whatever the case, Angeline and her brothers were under the guardianship of their aunt and uncle William S. and Sarah (Gilstrap) BLACK by the 1840 census and 1841 paperwork. I don't think the Gilstrap line at this point had Indian blood (but am not sure), perhaps it was the PACE family? If you find out anything about the WOOTENS or any leads on Angeline's mom, please let me know. Nancy Notify Administrator about this message?
