Bettie,

Thanks for note about the "Justice and Fairness" think I got ahead of myself there, as I read all the postings , I thought some were getting a little racist, and I wasn't raised that way. When I re-read them all I thought maybe I jumped to conclusions. I had nice notes from both gentlemen.

I was checking out your previous postings and found myself wondering where I had seen those names John Henry Ray and Martha Gilstrap. I just had time to get out my folder and found them listed on a ahnentafel or genealogy report sent to me by Debra Cassidy. You may have seen her postings here on this forum. we were writing back and forth a number of years ago.

You are distantly related to my husband through the Ray side.

I corresponded several years ago with Debra Cassidy. Are you related? Have you corresponded with her? I haven't read all your postings and answers yet, and I may have the answer right there.

My husband is descended from Absalom Ray and Susanna Mattingly Ray of Marion County, KY, actually when both died before 1832 (Absalom in 1811 and we think she died about 1832. Marion County was still part of Washington County, KY.I have some records concerning John Ray and Margaret Kazee, marriage record in Hardin County, KY and some of the births and Baptisms in Marion County. John Ray was born about 1798, Margaret was born about 1804. I have some deeds from Marion County also. Their son,John Henry's Baptism is recorded at St. Charles Catholic Church at St. Mary's KY, which is in Marion County.

One of your John's (Sr.)brothers was Elias Ray who married Margaret "Peggy" Lamkin in 1818 in Washington County, this couple are my husband's third great grandparents.

I would love to correspond with you about your Rays. You come down from Melissa Ray b. 16 Dec 1873, Putnam County, MO and d. 10 Sept 1951, Iowa???

Let's write. My email is atsgene2002@yahoo.com.

I have written one volume about these Rays and next year will be trying to get all material together for Volume II. I knew very little about your John Ray, father of John Henry when I published the first volume in 1993. I had a few things from Raywick church records, but I have a fair amount now that I didn't have then__ Thanks to a couple previous correspondents.

Ann Sipes
Ekron, Meade County, KY

Debra's listing shows Marth'as birth as September 13, 1844 in Putnam County, Missouri and her death to have been 5 June 1903 in Putnam County. and burial in Johnson Cemetery, Hiwy 149, North of Graysville, Elm Township.
