Hi Lynda

I realized you probaby have found most of the family tree for the Gilstraps, there's a lot of research been done that's easy to find. On a more personal note my mom, Lucretia, was the youngest of her family and told me a couple of stories pertaining to the grandparents. James Lewis and Martha lived with her family and James died in their home. Mom was about 5 and she said he wanted to hold her while he passed and it scared her something horrible because Grandma let him. Then Martha was one-half indian (Cherokee I was told) and Mom said she was really mean. She caught Mom lying about whether she'd fed the chickens and told her the devil was going to come out of the sky with his firey chains and get her. That story always stuck. Mom said she'd learned from missonary's the whole devil/firey chain thing. Mom also said she let her sit on her lap and Mom was fascinated with pulling the loose skin on her neck. Some story huh? After James died Martha went to Coffeyville and lived with her son Boss until her death. I have one other unpleasant story about Ruth. But Mom would be very unhappy if I told. She was not a nice lady just to be diplomatic. Thats about it for me. I'm going to check I think I may have a photo of your grandfather. Do you have any photos to share?

Peggy
