Paul, I believe that I can add a side branch to your family. My wife's grandfather was Patrick Joseph Gilsenan from Rosmeen, outside Kells. He was born in 1898 and had a brother Kit (Christopher). Surely there can only have been one Kit Gilsenan born around that time in Kells and my wife's grandfather and your grandfather were brothers. There was also another brother, Thomas, who was a blacksmith in Sra(?) near Kells - this would tie into the fact that your great grandfather Philip was also a blacksmith. Hope you can confirm!
