My mother is now 82, she lives in Dublin. . She was born 15th October 1924. Her parents were not married. Her father was Milo Judd who died shortly after she was born. She was raised by his family after being fostered for a short time by an Auctioneer called Hazley who lived in Monkstown, Co Dublin, family of Rev Hazley who was Milo’s best friend. The only information she has about her mother is that she was a married woman and worked in a department store/shop in Dublin. My mother was named Francis but the Judd family changed this. She thinks she was told that her mother’s surname was Gilsenan. (Gilshenan, Gilshinan/Gilson/Gilteane/Giltinan/Giltinane/Gilton) Mummy was 26 years old before she knew her background and none of her paternal family were able/prepared to give her any answers. In the 1920’s this would have been quite a scandal and of course if my grandmother had other children, they may never have known of Mummy’s existence. Curiously, on a recent visit to Dublin, Mum & I were followed by a woman in the new Dundrum Shopping Centre who eventually approached Mum and said how beautiful she was she & the image of her mother, with the same skin tone and hair! Of course I did not have the nerve to ask any questions, but now I wish I had! Anyone who may have known about her childhood is now dead so I am clutching at straws as I try and find some answers. Can anyone out there help me? My name is Stephanie Plesner and you can reach me on saplesner@btinternet.com
